The Kennedy/Marshall Co. acquired the rights to adapt the book written by Ingrid Betancourt "There Is No Silence That Does Not End: My Six Years of Captivity in the Colombian Jungle" to the silver screen. A spokesperson for producer Kathleen Kennedy confirmed that a screenplay is being developed from the book, which is the story of Betancourt's six years of captivity among the FARC guerrillas, and her rescue at the hands of the Colombian army in July 2008. This new project joins a long list of film and TV productions telling the story of the former presidential candidate from various angles, including a production by writer/director Betty Kaplan, who bought the rights to both books by Carlos Lecompte, Ingrid's former husband; TVE-Spain's television series "Operation Checkmate" focusing on the rescue mission that freed Betancourt, 11 Colombian police officers and soldiers and three US citizens; and several others.
