Cover "Recognized as a tiny phenomenon at a number of film festivals, La Barra is far from being just the flagship of the up-and-coming Colombian film industry. The film is, above all, a first film of extraordinary purity… The subject matter is not overly original, but Navia maintains a truly mature sense of logic throughout… Navia, like an anonymous anthropologist, collects timeless chants from a simple party, a series of touching portraits from a soccer game played on the beach (close-ups of the players faces), and long, unmoving lateral shots of a jungle path, an endless stretch of beach or what geologists refer to as "cuts" of village streets."
Excerpts from an article published in the January 2011 issue of France's prestigious Cahiers du Cinema following the French release of El vuelco del cangrejo (Crab Trap) by director Oscar Ruiz Navia under the title La Barra.
